What We Do

Too many farmers work on their effluent. EID have found a way to MAKE YOUR EFFLUENT WORK FOR YOU!

Do you spend a lot of valuable time working on your effluent?

Effluent disposal is an important part of the farming operation, however it doesn’t need to be a task that deprives farm owners and staff of valuable time. Effluent disposal systems can range from treatment ponds to land based treatment systems where the effluent is pumped from sumps or holding ponds. Generally pumping from a large storage facility is the preferred option by regional councils but no matter what the situation, there is a need to get it right and minimise your concerns about effluent disposal. Farmers throughout New Zealand have concerns with effluent disposal and are looking for ways to get it right. The diagram below shows how the process works.

Apply your DAIRY EFFLUENT back onto your farm soil and never over spend on fertilisers again.

Investing in a well designed effluent system can give you a significant financial return on investment through reducing fertiliser expenditure, while minimising animal health issues associated with effluent application and significantly cutting down labour inputs normally required to manage effluent disposal.

The graphs illustrate how
different the utilisation of nutrients from effluent can be on farms that operate on Low Application Rate Systems and on those of High Application Rate Systems.

To understand the graph, note that:

  • The amounts of Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potassium produced by 400 cows have been given a dollar value (that’s how much those nutrients would cost if bought elsewhere).

  • The yellow data illustrates how much nutrient goes back into the soil as a fertiliser replacement. When using low application rate effluent systems, 90% of nutrients produced are reutilised. When using high application systems, 40% of nutrients produced are reutilised.
